Returning Warrrior
Hi folks,
I've been out for a while, but this game keeps me coming back.
Some time ago, I used a scythe build. It was one of the most satysfing builds I ever ran on my war; to say, constantly hitting HM mobs for 3 digit numbers was ultimately enjoyable. Something I never accomplished otherwise.
But since the Dervish update it seens that it got the nerfbat hard.
So I ask, it is still viable using a scythe being a warrior? I'd like to hear from you armor clad players.

Is it still viable? Yes, of course.
But is it still superior to a Dervish doing the same thing? No, not anymore.
Might be better off sticking with the inherit Warrior weapons now.

You can always run a Hundred Blades build, It's viable now.

Example? I know my own HB build really, really sucks. :P [OQMT8mITZaHcqpvorIG8qYmUmAA - Whirlwind Attack, Sun and Moon Slash, Hundred Blades, Sprint (a necessity in HM , Save Yourselves (I keep getting told it's good, but at Kurz 4, I've never noticed it making a difference), For Great Justice, I Am the Strongest, Rebirth (only as a placeholder for an IAS I could never decide on since Warrior ones suck)] Tested it yesterday by wiping on the first group of undead outside the Mouth of Torment (while going to cap, replacing the rez, Sandstorm off of Droajam just inside that end of the Poisoned Outcrops), going back immediately to my Warrior's Endurance axe build, which got me there with no problems :P).

I use HB, but its not even close to that ol' Endurance Scythe + Pre-change AoHM. Apart from a few skills, damage output from a sword is kinda low.
Tried to go with MoP Support, but in HM the mobs end up scattering sooner or later.
Maybe I should try some weird ax build or go Arf Shakur..

Hundred Blades is great for an AoE spike or pressure in the right circumstances/team in PvE. Though granted, you have to know exactly how to mob up your opponents to use it well, else you will very much be better off with something more orientated against a smaller amount of targets.

Actually, scratch my HB objections above. Been capping now for the last half hour with it. Removed Save Yourselves! and tossed in Frenzy. Now ripping through Hard Mode undead uin the Sulfurous Wastes (most recently Bohdabi for Order of Undeath). Guess it was the lack of IAS (seriously, Warrior IAS sucks) and constantly being low on adrenaline 'cos of having a third big adrenal skill (SY!), cutting down on attack skill frequency.
Str 12+1, Sword 12+1+1 / Whirlwind Attack, Sun and Moon Slash, For Great Justice, Frenzy, Sprint (Rush may be better for cancelling Frenzy, but I prefer being able to keep up with foes for 13 of 15s, when necessary, not to mention getting in there before spawns have a chance to scatter), I Am The Strongest, cap sig/optional, Hundred Blades.
Try it, if you can. Lots and lots of yellow numbers make you feel like you're contributing. :P

Much better than Paragon's IaS skills bro, trust.
TBH IaS skills are supposed to have large drawbacks though; It's really only the Dervish ones that don't, which is due to power creep more than anything else (albeit the drawbacks to Weapon of Aggression and Rapid Fire are a little more discreet).
And yeah, if you don't have an IaS, it makes a big difference. As you can see, Hundred Blades under an IaS is alot of damage, seems you can fit 16 triggers of it into that 15 second duration then instead of only 11, which is almost a 50% damage increase.

I miss enduring scythe as well. The enduring scythe still works, but there's no real advantage over axe now. Endurance Axe is still as fun as ever though. Ignore using sword or hammer.

Ignore Hammer? Nothing wrong with Earthshaker spam either.
All depends what you want to do.

Hammers are one of the strongest pve things since they buffed the line. Even before, Earthshaker was perfectly viable, as was e-smash. You can knocklock a whole mob if you use hammers right, you have infinite energy, and with the new Dwarven Battle Stance you have constant 33% IAS with 40 armor. If you miss the scythe, try the hammer, with crude swing, auspicious blow, and a guy to put Strength of Honor on you, it's the next best thing i think.
Axes are nice but in PvE you're fighting stuff that's harder to score crits off of, so you don't always see the upper end of their damage potential. Swords have a higher minimum damage and have skills like Dragon Slash to charge SY, spam damage and knocklock stuff with brawling headbut and Hundred blades to score insane damage with whirling attack and mark of pain/barbs.

Bros don't let Bros use non-Earthshaker warriors.

Eh. Earthshaker's nice, I suppose. On those rare occasions that it ever goes off and you hit more than a single foe, anyways.
